Did you know that the U.S. accounts for more than one-third of planned global oil and gas expansion through 2050?

This is not a drill! (Pun intended). We’re calling on President Biden to stop the expansion of fossil fuels, phase down oil, gas and coal production, and declare a #ClimateEmergency!

One year ago, #SB1137 was signed into law — an environmental justice win over a decade in the making by communities on the frontlines of oil drilling in California.

#SB1137 created a 3,200 foot health and safety buffer zone between oil and gas drilling sites and homes, schools, and hospitals to protect Californians from the toxic impacts of oil drilling.

But today, that law has been put on hold by Big Oil who is seeking to overturn it on the ballot in 2024.

How did this happen?

On the anniversary of #SB1137, we decided to take a look back over the past year to see how we got here, and what we’re doing to protect Californians from the dangers of oil drilling.

Wow, we had a fantastic #GreenCA advocacy day with Wow, we had a fantastic #GreenCA advocacy day with @envirovoters on 8/30!

FOURTEEN teams of environmental advocates met with legislators from all over the state! We discussed key bills that we hope to get across the finish line at the end of this busy legislative season.

At times, it’s easy to feel disheartened by the amount of work we have yet to do in the environmental space. But a day with these passionate, charismatic, and brilliant folks has us feeling grateful and hopeful as we continue to push on.
Last week, @ca_nursesforehj members Greg and Katie Last week, @ca_nursesforehj members Greg and Katie got to meet a living legend - Dolores Huerta! 💚 💚 💚

Greg and Katie were in Sacramento for @GreenCA advocacy day with our friend and colleague Suzanne (founder of @cleanearth4kids). They spotted Dolores, who had just finished meetings with legislators, and stopped her to talk about farmworker health and safety, climate change, and more.

And yes - at 93 years young, Dolores is still doing the work! So much change has been set in motion by Ms. Huerta, and she serves as a constant source of inspiration for us in the fight for environmental health and justice. Thank you, Dolores. #sisepuede #inspiration #environmentalhealth #environmentaljustice
